Breda’s Valkenberg park is the setting of several classical and modern sculptures. The average passer-by takes no notice or is even aware of their presence. But, the park forms a perfect setting for the presentation of sculptures.
That’s why GDFB will display a series of contemporary 3D sculptures in the park during the course of the festival; the Designer Toys XL.

The well-known DIY paper toy will be given a new life. Exclusively for the festival, LouLou & Tummy designed a special character. Of this character, 3D sculptures will be made, to be placed on a spot that cannot fail. At that time, the characters will be blank, naked and without ‘skin’. Invited by LouLou & Tummie and GDFB, different illustrators will bring the characters to life by fitting them with a skin on the opening day (8 May) The different paintings indicate how images influence identity. The painted sculptures will be on display throughout the festival.
The following artists agreed to paint a Designer Toy XL: LouLou & Tummie, Staynice, Collin van der Sluijs & Rutger Termohlen, Hedof, Darrin Umboh, Bobby Pola, Lennard Schuurmans, Superoboturbo, Louis Reith, Graphic Surgery and Zenk One.
Saturday May 8th, starting from 12 am, the designers can be seen live at work in the Valkenberg Park.
