Just like GDFB, Electron is an incubator for young talent. Here, you not only see the work of individual designers, but also there initiatives. Worldwide there are designers who involve their colleagues in their special projects. GDFB came by a lot of local and international initiatives in the past two years. Some of them are now given the chance to present their special initiative in Breda.
Illustrative, the leading international forum for contemporary illustration and graphic arts, is showcasing a preview-selection of works of the upcomming Illustrative 10 in Breda.
During GDFB, Illustrative celebrates the illustrative arts, presents new talents and trends, exchanges ideas, marvels at progressive technologies, and rediscovers forgotten styles. Illustrative displays not only the quality and fantasy of the latest graphic arts but also shows how the visual effects of graphic design, illustration, book art, comics, concept art, and animation spill into and influence the field of art.
Established in Berlin in 2006, Illustrative has been held in Berlin three times (2006/2007/2009), once in Paris (2007), and once in Zürich (2008). To guarantee the topicality of the exhibition, before every Illustrative the art works are examined closely by a curatorial committee lead by Berlin-based curator Pascal Johanssen.
Works on display by Russel Cobb, Romeinse Bittner, Olaf Hajek, Eda Akaltun, Jesse Aursalo, Pixelgarten, Erik Sandberg, Good Wives and Worriours and Andre Rössler.
Friday 7 May is the opening of this exposition.
