In addition to the theme of GDFB 2010, DECODING, the Graphic Design Museum organises the exhibition INFODECODATA. This exhibition gives us an image of the world of information we encounter on a daily basis.
The rain radar has replaced the weather forecast on TV; you can check whether your train is delayed with your iPhone App. We use transitory media such as the internet and the mobile telephone to find information much quicker, in any format required. There are an increasing number of products on the market that select the required information and deliver it ‘made-to-measure'. The consumer no longer wishes to be served; he serves himself.

Data visualisation, the profession that is involved in visualising and structuring data, has achieved a prominent place in graphic design. The exhibition INFODECODATA puts our explosive information world in the spotlights. How do designers structure complex data? Where do we find the information that we are looking for?
The exhibition presents an overview of information design with image icons, scientific data visualisations, infographics and experimental computer animations.

The Graphic Design Museum shows how various disciplines in one exhibition overlap. Gerlinde Schuller is an information designer and puts herself with her Designing Universal Knowledge, thanks to the wiki-technology, on the position of scientist. At the same time, the work of Jack van Wijk, scholar at the Mathematics faculty of Eindhoven University of Technology, looks a lot like works of art. Luna Maurer, Jonathan Puckey, Roel Wouters and Edo Paulus are originally graphic designers, researching algorithms, thus engaging the field of software development.

This exhibition immediately shows the age-old connection between art and science. A new area comes into existence where scientists, artists and designers meet.
