GDFB2012 Poster Project: Open Call

Do you want to take part in this years GDFB2012 Poster Project from September 19th till 23rd? Participate in the open call by designing a poster and sending it in before June 25th. The 5 best designs will be selected and exhibited amongst outstanding international designers!

GDFB2012 Theme: Visual Storytelling

In our current society we are bombarded with information in the form of images. Through the Internet, we can see everything. Because of the enormous quantity of visual stimuli in our environment, it becomes increasingly difficult to understand what is being communicated. New tactics are necessary to clarify complex communication in a way that the public can understand, remember and interpret the information. Designers are now falling back on a way of transferring knowledge that has been used since prehistoric times. The designer as storyteller, but then in a contemporary remix.

GDFB at Chaumont!

Last year was the first time for GDFB to participate at the International Poster and Graphic Design Festival in Chaumont (France). This year the organization has extended another invitation, giving GDFB the opportunity to participate from May 26th till June 3rd with Letterproeftuin (LPT).

GDFB 2012: September 19-23

GDFB2012 will take place from the 19th to 23rd of September. More details about to theme, programme and visitorsinfo will be announced in April 2012.

GDFB and T-Shirt Memory at Integrated 2011

Thursday 13th and Friday 14th of October, the third edition of Integrated will take place. Integrated is a two-day conference at deSingel in Antwerp and is determined to uncover connections between graphic design and other artistic fields and disciplines.

Tshirt memory at local music festival

During the weekend of September 17th, the 26th edition of Breda Barst starts. And because this is an unforgettable weekend, students of AKV St. Joost came up with the T-shirt memory project. They designed prints and made two t-shirts with each print. If you buy a t-hirt at Breda Barst and can find your T-buddy, you’ll get a free beer.

Watch now: Ongoing @Chaumont

The past two weeks GDFB presented 'Ongoing' at the 22nd International Poster and Graphic Design Festival in Chaumont, France. This poster project initiated by GVD (Guus Gijben, Vera and David Verberne Paans) was shown to a large international audience. For this occasion a publication with the 43 posters is published. GDFB tip: European Design Festival

The European Design Festival (27 - 30 May) is a series of events centred around the current communication design scene of our continent. This yearly event takes place in a different city every time, the host this year being Rotterdam. You may find the complete programme of exhibitions, seminars, design walks, workshops, etc. here.

Contribute to a work of art!

Fabrica, Benetton's research centre on communication, has developed an online clock made of numbers taken from everyday life; the Exquisite Clock. The numbers are seen, captured and uploaded by people from all over the world.

First names painters Designer Toys XL confirmed

During GDFB, the well-known DIY paper toy will be given a new life. Exclusively for the festival, LouLou & Tummy designed an appropriate character. Of this character, 3D sculptures will be made, to be placed in the Valkenberg Park. Invited by LouLou & Tummie and GDFB, different illustrators will bring the characters to life by fitting them with a skin (illustration), on the opening day (8 May).
