A debating night on advertising in public space and on how the city government can or wishes to regulate advertisements. The debate and lecture are organized by Gebouw F.

Projector Spectre IV: LUST

Projector Spectre has been made by GDFB and KOP every year since 2007. Graphic design and architecture are spectacularly connected by means of projections.

GDFB Seminar. On decoding and graphic design

On Tuesday 25 May, GDFB organizes a seminar with presentations by seven national and international designers and scientists. They will give deeper insight on the Decoding theme. By means of everyday examples and results from research, they will show how the increasing digitalization influences and changes the field of the graphic designer.

Designer Toys XL

Breda’s Valkenberg park is the setting of several classical and modern sculptures. The average passer-by takes no notice or is even aware of their presence. But, the park forms a perfect setting for the presentation of sculptures. That’s why GDFB will display a series of contemporary 3D sculptures in the park during the course of the festival; the Designer Toys XL.

Opening GDFB 2010

Saturday 8 May is the day of the official opening of the festival. This opening is exclusively for business and creative partners of GDFB.

Graphic Surprise

For how long do you look at a playbill, flyer or display in the public space? Rarely do we offer a full-fledged glance. Perhaps you become aware of it when passing by. But do you stop and give it a proper look?

49 Unique posters made by 49 internationally renowned designers. To be seen in Breda’s city centre throughout the festival.

DECODING

The House of Visual Culture forms the headquarters of GDFBs organization. It displays the title exposition DECODING. This exhibition shows a new conceptual approach to graphic design.

Just like GDFB, Electron is an incubator for young talent. Here, you not only see the work of individual designers, but also there initiatives. Worldwide there are designers who involve their colleagues in their special projects. GDFB came by a lot of local and international initiatives in the past two years. Some of them are now given the chance to present their special initiative in Breda.

Paper Cut

During the Graphic Design Festival Breda publisher Gestalten and the art space KOP present ‘Paper Cut’. An exhibition displaying the innovative use of paper by graphic designers and artist.

Bootcamp: OFlab Breda

With Bootcamp GDFB offers the chance to a group of 30 international designers to display their talent. A 4 day OpenFramweworks workshop will result in new works to be displayed during the festival.

INFODECODATA

In addition to the theme of GDFB 2010, DECODING, the Graphic Design Museum organises the exhibition INFODECODATA. This exhibition gives us an image of the world of information we encounter on a daily basis.
